Doctors not ready for job in medical college, only 8 reached for 100 posts

Doctors are not ready for jobs in Doon Medical College. Here, interviews were held on October 1 for recruitment to 100 posts of specialist doctors on contract, but only eight turned up. In Doon Medical College, interviews were conducted for 11 posts of Professor, 42 of Associate Professor, 46 of Assistant Professor and one post of MO. But, only six specialist doctors arrived for Assistant Professor and two for Associate Professor, who are associated with the departments of Pathology, Microbiology, Dental, Neuro Surgery and Community Medicine. On the other hand, there is a crisis on PG seats due to shortage of doctors. Reduction in salary and leave, excess of work are also being cited as the reasons for this. Last month, on September 3, interviews were held for 113 posts, in which only 25 doctors appeared.

The result is stuck due to many doctors not showing interest in joining.

Confusion regarding salary hike order: Recently, the government had increased the salary of super specialist doctors to Rs 4 lakh in plain areas and Rs 5 lakh in hilly areas, but there is confusion among doctors regarding this order.

Medical colleges have been asked to follow the government orders. If there is confusion regarding salary increase, then they should take advice from the Finance Controller. If you have any suggestion, please inform the Directorate. Proposals have been sought from medical colleges to increase the salary of faculty. – Dr. Ashutosh Sayana, Director-Medical Education

Doctors will not get full salary during PG studies

Government doctors of Uttarakhand will not get full salary while doing PG. This decision has been taken in view of a case going on in this regard in the Supreme Court and various types of PG courses for doctors. Actually, government doctors of the state get 50 percent salary during PG. For a long time, doctors have been demanding full salary during PG. In the year 2019, former Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat had also made an announcement in this regard, but despite this, no action has been taken yet in this regard. Government sources said that a case is going on in the Supreme Court regarding paying full salary to government doctors during their PG studies. Health Secretary Dr R Rajesh Kumar also said that the doctors of the Provincial Medical and Health Services Association have been informed in this regard that at present no action is possible in this regard.

Today a large number of doctors are doing PG. Different institutes have different rules for PG. If a rule is made in this regard, it will be necessary to include the period of government service of the doctor in it. The Health Secretary said that doctors have been told that action is not possible in this regard at present.
