CBSE Board Exam: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan (Dharmendra Pradhan) announced on January 8 that CBSE and State Board Exams will be conducted twice a year from the upcoming academic session 2026-27.
This decision is part of larger reforms in the education system and will provide more opportunities and flexibility to students.
The minister said that the board exam will be conducted in two sessions on the lines of JEE Main, out of which the first exam can be held in February and the second in April. Besides, preparations are also underway to implement the semester system in classes 11th and 12th.
Benefits to students
Conducting board exams twice a year will bring many benefits for the students. Especially for those students who find it difficult to understand any subject or whose performance was weak last time.
They can appear in the examinations for both the sessions, and the session in which their performance is better will be considered as the final score.
This arrangement will also reduce the exam pressure on students, as they will get more time to prepare. Also, if a student’s preparation is not complete for the first session, he/she can appear for the examination in the second session.
Similarly, if a student’s result is unsatisfactory in the first session, he/she can appear for the exam again in the second session.
This initiative will provide more opportunities to students and enable them to utilize more time to improve their performance, thereby increasing their chances of success in their educational journey.
