A special scheme for admission has been launched by IIT Madras. Which is named ‘Scope’ (Scope). Under this, students who have excelled in the National and International Olympiads will be given direct admission. This admission process will be out of the purview of JEE (Advanced) and will be implemented from 2025-2026 academic session.
According to reports, like admission on the basis of excellence in sports, art and culture, the SCOPE scheme will also provide two additional seats in each educational program, one of which will be reserved for especially female students. For this, the eligibility criteria will be similar to JEE (Advanced).
IIT Madras Director Prof. V Kamakoti said that the world’s largest puzzles do not solve the books by rote, rather they solve those who break these riddles, add them again and pave the way for new discoveries for future generations. With this thinking, IIT Madras has made a new beginning for the students performing at the Science Olympiad.
Students will be selected on the basis of Scope rank list (SRL) through Scope, which will be based on the performance of candidates and their achievements in the Science Olympiad. Questions related to physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology and information science will be asked in these Olympiads.
The admission process under the scheme will be different from the JOSAA portal and students will have to apply on the Scope portal jeeadv.iitm.ac.in/scope specifically made by IIT Madras.
The candidate applying for this should be an Indian citizen and he has participated in one of the Olympiad mentioned here in the last 4 years. The Olympiad includes the International Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp, Consideration-cum-selection camp and International Information Science Olympiad Training Camp.
