After Kovid, there has been a significant decrease in students’ learning ability, which the Union Ministry of Education has taken several initiatives to improve. In this series, the Department of School Education and Literacy of the Ministry has prepared two apps. The TARA app created with the help of IIT Bombay aims to overcome the problems faced by students, while the second My Career Advisor app will show the school students a better career, students will get a chance to know about more than a thousand career options.
A senior official of the School Education Department says that both these apps will be launched soon. The department has also decided to start a clean and green school rating under another new experiment. The Ministry of Education has also recently launched the Teacher App, which will equip teachers with the skills ready for the future to meet the needs of the 21st century classes.
Tara app portal:
The Tara app portal will help students know whether they have read the lesson correctly. This AI-based app is designed for students from class 3 to 8 and its pilot project was launched in Kendriya Vidyalayas. Now it is being brought to school students across the country. This app is designed to improve English and Hindi reading skills. This app is made using speech processing and machine learning.
If you understand this in simple words, the student will read any lesson through the app, what the student has read will be recorded. After this, the student will be able to know where he has wrongly read the words. This app will assess reading speed and accuracy, allowing effective improvement in reading skills. Speech processing and machine learning will be used to assess reading flow from audio recording. Currently this app will be in Hindi and English language, but in future it will be made multilingual and reading capacity can also be assessed in many Indian languages.
My Career Advisor App:
The Ministry’s School Education Department has created My Career Advisor App to provide career guidance to school students in collaboration with Wadhwani Foundation and NCERT. This digital platform is designed keeping in mind the needs of school students. Students can get information about more than a thousand career options through this app. Also, it will be mentioned in the job rolls ie related jobs.
Students will be able to know what kind of skills are required for different jobs. The ministry believes that school students will get an opportunity to choose the career option of their choice while in school and when they go for higher education after completing school education, they will be able to choose educational as well as skill courses. The use of this app will be easy. This app will also help students to inform students about better career options for school teachers, school counselors and career advisors. It will be easy to select courses as per market demand.
Clean and Green School Awards:
The department says that till now Swachh Vidyalaya Awards were given to schools, but now it will be known as Clean and Green Vidyalaya Award. The award will be given for excellent performance in the field of sanitation and environmental protection in schools. The award will be given to government and private schools in both rural and urban areas, including aspects such as water, toilets, hand washing facilities, waste management, sanitation education.
