In 10th, students get CGPA (cumulative grade point average) instead of marks. Whereas in 12th, marks are given for every subject. But when taking admission in any college, when applying for scholarship or while filling a government form, we have to convert CGPA into percentage. Let’s know how to convert 10th CGPA to percentage and how to calculate the total percentage from 12th subject numbers?
What is CGPA and how is it calculated?
English – 9 Mathematics – 10 Science – 9 Social Science – 8 Hindi – 9
So total grade point = 9 + 10 + 9 + 8 + 9 = 45
Now to extract CGPA: 45 ÷ 5 = 9.0, that is, the CGPA of that student will be 9.0.
CGPA is the average marks of cumulative grade point average students. This method is especially for students of CBSE Board 10th. How to convert CGPA to percentage?
According to CBSE, it is very easy to convert CGPA into percentage (%). Just multiply whatever CGPA is 9.5. For example, if a student has a CGPA 9.0, the percentage = 9.0 × 9.5 = 85.5%, that is, the percentage of that student will be 85.5%. CBSE has adopted this method because the average digit of students getting A1 grade (91-100 marks) is around 95 and it is fixed at 9.5 when divided by 10 CGPA. Therefore, multiply each person’s CGPA by 9.5 and convert it to percentage.
How to get total percentage in class 12?
In CBSE class 12, students are given direct marks in each subject, not CGPA, so percentage (%) is calculated here directly. How to find the percentage: Add the marks of all the main subjects like English, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science and then divide it by the number of subjects. For example, if a student has scored a total of 450 marks and has 5 subjects, then percentage = 450 ÷ 5 = 90%, which shows us how well the student has performed well.
