Problems of depression, sadness, anger, suicidal thoughts and addiction etc. are increasing among children and youth. It is important to identify them at the school level itself. National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) will prepare counselors to identify and prevent the growing behavioral problems in children and youth. For this, NCERT is going to conduct diploma course in Guidance and Counseling from 2025. This course will be of one year. In this, training will be provided on 14 modules. The course will start from January and will run till December. This will be completed in three phases. The first phase will be of six months. This will be done distance and online. The second phase will be of three months for which the candidates will have to go to the designated centre. There will be internship in the third phase.
Candidates from Bihar will take training in Bhubaneswar. Regional Institute of Education Secretariat Marg Study Center has been earmarked for the candidates from Bihar. After receiving face to face training, candidates will be able to come to their state and get internship ‘on the job’ experience, for this, candidates will be able to work with any organization.
Will be prepared to deal with emotional and moral problems
Candidates enrolling in this will be prepared to deal with the emotional and moral problems of children and youth. These trained teachers will work to reduce and prevent children’s problems like losing interest in studies, getting irritated by things, becoming angry, etc. by going to the root of the problem.
What will happen in the course and training
– Training on counseling for irritability, wrong thoughts, addiction etc.
– There will be a one year diploma in guidance and counseling course from 2025.
– There will be a provision of six months distance course, three months face to face course and internship.
– Regional Training Institute for Bihar candidates will be in Bhubaneswar.
Applications till 5, admission will be done on maximum 50 seats

For this, graduate teachers, teachers who have two years of teaching experience but are not currently working, social workers, candidates doing PG in Child Development, Special Education, Psychology can apply.
