Madhya Pradesh High Court has taken a big decision. The court has canceled the counseling process of NEET PG 2024. This decision has been taken due to irregularities in giving extra marks to medical officers. A division bench headed by Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva directed the National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) to prepare a new state merit list.
this is the case
The merit list prepared by the state government for NEET-PG 2024 has gone through the normalization process twice. Due to which the ranking of serving candidates got disturbed. Many doctors filed a petition claiming that medical officers serving in rural areas are not given the benefit of additional marks. Petitioners’ lawyer Aditya Sanghi argued that the new list has been prepared in violation of the rules, due to which the future of hundreds of candidates is in danger.
High Court order
The High Court quashed the merit list and counseling process saying that the list prepared without following the rules violated transparency in the selection process. The court ordered that all serving doctors be given full benefit of their additional marks in the new merit list. Only after this the counseling process should be started. Also, the High Court made it clear that this decision has been taken only to ensure compliance with the rules.
Relief to affected doctors
Those doctors have got relief from this decision. Those who served in rural areas for three years did not get the benefit of additional marks. This decision of the High Court is expected to bring transparency and improvement in the medical counseling process.
