Students studying in B.Ed colleges will make literate students who have left studies in their surrounding areas. This work will be included in their course. NCTE has started a new program Ullas for four-year B.Ed. NCTE has sent a letter to BRABU and other universities regarding this new program. The four-year B.Ed is run only in four B.Ed colleges of BRABU across Bihar.

NCTE says that the objective of this program is to increase the literacy rate in the country. NCTE has said in the letter sent to the universities that the Ullas program will also be known as Navbharat Literacy Program. Students will be given two credits for participating in this program. Students participating in the program will be called volunteers.

Students will be registered on Ullas portal

NCTE has said that four-year B.Ed students should be registered on the Ullas portal. This registration will reveal how many students are working in this program. NCTE has instructed the teachers of B.Ed colleges to work to get the students registered on the portal and along with the students themselves, they should also participate in this program.

The program will start from October 3

This program will start in B.Ed colleges from October 3. An orientation program will also be conducted online before the event. NCTE has sent a link to all four-year B.Ed colleges for the orientation programme. In this program, students and teachers of B.Ed colleges will be given complete information about the Ullas program.

Students of B.Ed colleges will get training. NCTE has said that by participating in the Ullas program, students of B.Ed colleges will also get training in teaching.

If the students of B.Ed College teach the illiterate people nearby, then they will get information about how to teach the students in the class. This will benefit them in future also.

B.Ed students also have to do internship in school. In this program they will be able to learn the skills of teaching without internship.

Mentors will also be appointed in B.Ed colleges

Mentors are also to be appointed by NCTE in B.Ed colleges. The job of a mentor is to tell teachers new techniques on how to teach students in the classroom and to develop the capacity of teachers.
