NMC Refuses to Consider Homosexuality as unnatural Sexual Crime: There is an important news for the candidates studying MBBS from medical college. The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued an important notice regarding Competency Based Medical Education Curriculum (CBME) 2024.

The notice said that after facing criticism NMC has withdrawn the ‘Guidelines under CBME 2024’. NMC said in an official statement that the circular of even number issuing guidelines under Competency Based Medical Education Curriculum 2024 is withdrawn and cancelled with immediate effect. The above guidelines will be revised and uploaded in due course.

Activists from the LGBTQIA+ community say that these guidelines violate the rights of persons with disabilities and LQBTQ people. In 2018, the Supreme Court decriminalised homosexual relationships.

NMC said, It is notified that the circular dated 31st August 2024 issued guidelines under CBME 2024 stands withdrawn and cancelled with immediate effect.

The new guidelines will be revised and uploaded in due course. New CBME (Competency Based Medical Education) guidelines regarding MBBS degree course were issued on 31 August. In the new guidelines issued for the MBBS course by the Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) of NMC, it was also said that the first session of the next exam will start from the MBBS course of the academic year 2024-25.

The NEXT exam system will be implemented in two phases. As per the new CBME Guidelines, MBBS students will be able to appear for university MBBS examinations/NEXT exams only if they have 75% attendance in electives and have submitted the log book prepared during electives.
