When will the dates for JEE, NEET, CUET exams be released?
Every year the National Testing Agency (NTA) releases an exam calendar on its official website to let candidates know when the next editions of the entrance exams will be conducted. In such a situation, students are eagerly waiting for the release of the NTA exam calendar. Last time, the agency released the exam calendar with tentative dates for Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main, National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduate (NEET UG), Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for UG and PG and University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET).
When can it be released?
Last year, the dates for the 2024 exams were announced on September 19, 2023. Upon announcement, candidates can check the NTA exam calendar for 2025 at nta.ac.in. In such a situation, it is being speculated that the calendar can be released around September 19 itself.
Exam calendar will release the date of these exams
JEE Main is conducted in two stages for admission to graduate courses offered by the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) and other participating institutes of technical education.
NEET is for admission to undergraduate courses in medicine offered by all the medical colleges in the country.
CUET UG and PG are for admission to graduation and postgraduation in central universities and other participating institutes, while UGC NET is for determining the eligibility of Indian citizens for admission to Assistant Professor, JRF and PhD.
NTA remained in controversy
The 2024 edition of several entrance exams conducted by the agency were mired in controversy. The UGC NET June exam was cancelled a day after it was held, with the government saying the integrity of the exam could be compromised. The hybrid (online and offline exams) method adopted for the June edition was dropped during the re-examination, and the agency continued with the previous practice of conducting it in CBT (computer-based testing) mode across multiple days and shifts.
After that, the NTA postponed the CSIR UGC NET exam citing “unavoidable circumstances” and “logistic issues”. The exam was conducted in July and the results have been declared.
NEET became the biggest issue
The most controversial case was NEET UG, in which massive irregularities like paper leak, cheating were alleged. The matter reached the Supreme Court, which refused to cancel the exam and order a re-examination, saying that the evidence on record did not indicate a systematic leak of the question paper, indicating a disruption of the sanctity of the examination. However, the court ordered the NTA to re-calculate the NEET UG result, revise the merit list of over 4 lakh candidates, including 44 toppers who were given grace marks for a controversial question.
