The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has prepared a plan to prevent irregularities in marks in internal assessment of science subjects from class VI to XII. The board has prepared a framework in collaboration with the British Council, which will solve problems like surprising fluctuations in marks in internal assessment and possible excessive increase. This information has come to light after the details of the meeting of the board’s governing body held in June were made public. The details of the meeting also revealed that the board is also considering CCTV recording of classes at exam centers where there is a risk of irregularities in the examination. CBSE will create a framework for benchmarking and review of standards. The internal assessment framework will be in line with NCFSE i.e. National Curriculum Framework.
According to the Indian Express report, this proposal includes directing schools to install CCTV cameras in classrooms. Some of its expenses will be borne by CBSE. It also talks about creating a data bank at the CBSE headquarters. On the day of the examination, every exam center will be able to submit CCTV recordings to this data bank through a web link.
This proposal is to be implemented from the 2025 examination. Along with this, a committee will also be formed which will handle the necessary infrastructure, its implementation, IT system and data collected from schools.
The proposal states that as a pilot project, initially at least 30 percent of the centres in an area can be included in it. After this, it can be expanded to all the centres.
