One person died after being hit by a freight train at Ballia railway station in Uttar Pradesh. The deceased has been identified as Shankar Mandal (58), a resident of Bihar. According to the Government Railway Police (GRP), the incident occurred on Monday (31 March), when the divisions were going from platform number 2 to their office at the eastern end of platform number 1. State Railway Police (GRP) Station House Officer (SHO) Vivekananda Yadav said that the police reached the spot soon after receiving the information of the incident. He said that Mandal’s body has been taken into possession and sent for postmortem. The case is being investigated in detail. A 14 -year -old girl was allegedly raped near Bareilly City railway station on 27 March before Bareilly railway station. An official said that the victim was returning from a pilgrimage in Uttarakhand. The incident occurred when the girl was traveling by train with her father and relatives. The girl’s father got off the train to take something from the platform. As soon as the train started running, he slipped while trying to climb again.
When her father failed to climb the train, the girl jumped from the train while leaving the station, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anurag Arya said citing the complaint. “She fell on the outer track ahead of the platform, and a person raped her there,” the SSP said. The girl was first admitted to Bareilly District Women’s Hospital, but was later referred to a private medical college due to her deteriorating condition.
