The National Testing Agency (NTA) has again revised the tie-break rule for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2025. In the latest update, now the age of the candidates and JEE Main 2025 application number will not be considered while ranking the candidates with similar scores. Instead, the ranking will be based only on students’ performance in the exam. If the performance of the candidates is equal, they will be given the same JEE Main rank.
When will JEE exams be held?
The agency has released the JEE Main 2025 exam schedule on Monday evening. As per the official schedule, JEE Main 2025 Session 1 is tentatively scheduled to be held from January 22, while Session 2 will be tentatively held between April 1 to 15. NTA has opened the registration window for JEE Main 2025 and eligible candidates can fill the application form through the new official JEE website jeemain.nta.nic.in till November 22.

JEE Main 2025 will be conducted in two phases. The examination will have two papers: Paper 1, for admission to Bachelor of Engineering (BE) and Bachelor of Technology (BTech) programmes, and Paper 2, for admission to Bachelor of Architecture (BArch) and Bachelor of Planning (BPlanning) programmes. .
Eligibility Criteria
As per the age limit criteria, there is no age restriction for the candidates appearing in JEE Main 2025. Candidates who have passed their Class 12 or equivalent examination in 2023, 2024, or are appearing in 2025 are eligible to take the JEE Main 2025 exam regardless of age. However, candidates must still meet any specific age requirements set by the institutions to which they seek admission.

If any candidate gets the same rank then in such case
High NTA score will be seen in Maths.
High NTA score will be considered in Physics.
High NTA score will be seen in Chemistry.
Then the ratio of attempted wrong answers to correct answers is low in all subjects in the exam.
In Math the ratio of attempted wrong answers to correct answers is low.
In Physics the ratio of attempted wrong answers to correct answers is low.
In Chemistry the ratio of attempted wrong answers to correct answers is low.
If the tie still persists, the candidates will be given the same rank.
