Students will be able to do two degree courses simultaneously from Delhi University, know what are the conditions, career news

Delhi University has great news for the students. Now DU students will be able to pursue two degree courses simultaneously in the university. The country’s prestigious Delhi University has decided to allow students to pursue two degree courses simultaneously within the university. According to the notification issued by the university, students can obtain one degree in regular mode from DU colleges or departments and the second degree in Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode from the School of Open Learning. DU has said in the guidelines that students already pursuing degree courses in the university or involved in the admission process can choose to pursue two degrees at the same time. However, they will not be allowed to pursue two similar academic courses such as B.Com (Hons) and B.Com (Pass) at the same time, even if one of them is taken in ODL mode.

Apart from this, students who want to pursue two degree courses simultaneously will have to fulfill all the educational requirements for both the courses separately. This includes attending classes, completing internal assessments, submitting assignments, giving presentations and meeting the promotion criteria for each degree. To avoid studying a compulsory course twice, students are required to first complete the compulsory course for the course they are enrolled in, whether in regular or ODL mode.

In the second course the relevant compulsory courses will be replaced with suitable alternatives. For example, if a student first enrolls in a regular course, he/she has to complete the mandatory syllabus for that course. If previously enrolled in an ODL course, priority will be given to the mandatory courses for that course.

In undergraduate courses, students are required to complete mandatory courses such as Environmental Science (EVM) or Ability Enhancement Course (AEC) for the program in which they are previously enrolled. If these courses are also required in the second degree course, they will be replaced by suitable alternative courses.

As per the rules, the research theme or project work required in the fourth year of UG degree course should be different for each degree. Additionally, students will not be allowed to combine credits from two different courses to obtain a major or minor in any subject.

Let us tell you that UGC has already given permission to do two degree courses simultaneously in view of the National Education Policy.
