Doctors who have done PG from government medical colleges of Uttarakhand will not be able to work in other states for two years. The government is going to make this arrangement to overcome the shortage of specialist doctors in the state. A proposal has been prepared in this regard by the Medical Education Department, which is being discussed in the government. It is known that more than six hundred posts of specialist doctors are lying vacant in the state. Due to which there are problems in the treatment of patients. Especially in the mountainous areas of the state, people are facing a lot of problems due to this. In view of this problem, the government has decided to increase the number of specialist doctors. Under this, in the first phase, the retirement age of specialist doctors was increased from sixty years to 65 years and after this, there is a plan to stop the doctors doing PG in the state itself.
Soon this matter will be brought to the cabinet, after which it will be finalized. Secretary Medical Education Dr. R Rajesh Kumar confirmed that a proposal has been prepared in this regard. He said that this scheme will be implemented after the approval of the cabinet.
Doctors face crisis
Around 600 posts of specialist doctors are currently vacant in the state. But except for the backlog posts, there are no posts left for MBBS doctors. In such a situation, the problem of government jobs has arisen in front of plain MBBS doctors. According to sources in the Health Department, due to deployment under bond, the deployment of doctors in the state has exceeded the total posts. In such a situation, in the coming time, it will not be possible for doctors without PG to get government jobs.

The posts of specialist doctors in the state are expected to be filled in two to three years
At present, there are a total of 170 PG seats in the state. After completion of studies, a batch of almost the same number of specialist doctors will emerge in a year and all the posts of specialist doctors are expected to be filled in two to three years. Officials said that the retirement age of doctors has also been increased. In such a situation, the problem of specialist doctors is expected to be completely resolved in the coming few years.
Government will change the conditions
Medical education department officials said that as per the proposal, the government will change the terms and conditions of the bond. It will be made mandatory that doctors doing PG from state colleges will serve in state hospitals for two years after passing out. This will largely address the shortage of specialist doctors in the state.
