Argument between NSUI joint secretary and professor
Voting is being held today for Delhi University Students Union i.e. DUSU. In this DUSU election, there was a huge uproar at a polling booth and the uproar was so intense that the matter reached a scuffle. This uproar took place between the Joint Secretary of NSUI and the DU professor and the uproar escalated into a scuffle. Actually, during the elections for DUSU, NSUI Joint Secretary Lokesh Chaudhary had gone to the booth with his election batch. During this, the teacher staff present there stopped him. The name of the staff who stopped him is Professor Anupam Jha who is in the Law Faculty and was on duty as election in-charge today. After this the debate started and Lokesh Chaudhary created a ruckus there along with his friends. Not only this, Lokesh Chaudhary also started misbehaving and beating.
There is a ban on counting of votes
Let us tell you that voting is going on for DUSU elections today and its results were to be announced tomorrow i.e. on 28th September. But the declaration of results has been put on hold. Actually, Delhi High Court has intervened in this matter and stopped it. The court, while staying the counting of votes for the DUSU elections, said that the results of the election will not be declared until the candidates contesting the elections remove their posters, pamphlets and hoardings. The court further said, ‘The amount spent by DU, MCD and DMRC in removing the posters, pamphlets and hoardings put up by the candidates will have to be paid. Delhi University will make this payment after collecting money from all the candidates. The overall thing is that now the votes for DUSU elections will not be counted till the next order of the court.
The court had reprimanded DU officials
Apart from banning the counting of votes yesterday i.e. on 26th September, the court had also reprimanded the DU officials. Slamming the officials, the court said, ‘DU failed to put in place a system to deal with violations of rules. Why did DU officials allow standards to fall and not take steps to stop it?’ The court further said, if the university will not discipline its students then who will. You have all the powers. You can expel or disqualify students but you are not dealt with 21 candidates. How will you handle lakhs of students?
