scholarship for Indo Pacific engineering students: India has announced scholarships for students of the Indo-Pacific region. This scheme was announced by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi after the Quad summit held in Wilmington, Delaware. Giving information about the scholarship, PM Modi said that 50 Quad scholarships worth five lakh US dollars (about Rs 4.17 crore) will be given to the students of the Indo-Pacific region. These scholarships will enable students to join the four-year B.Tech (engineering graduation) course in a technical institute funded by the Government of India.
Each Quad Fellow will be given a financial donation of US$40,000 (approximately Rs 33.39 lakh) to meet academic expenses.
The announcement said that the Quad is committed to strengthening the deep and enduring ties between our people and our partners. Through the Quad Fellowship, we are building a network of the next generation of science, technology, and policy leaders.
With the Institute of International Education leading the implementation of the Quad Fellowship, the Quad governments are welcoming the second group of Quad Fellows and the expansion of the program to include students from ASEAN countries for the first time.
The Japanese government is supporting the program to enable Quad Fellows to study in Japan. “The Quad welcomes the generous support of private sector partners for the next group of Fellows, including Google, the Pratt Foundation, and Western Digital,” the announcement said.
