As the Haryana Assembly elections are coming closer, the campaign is also intensifying. All the political parties have announced their candidates. According to the report of Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), maximum number of criminal cases are registered against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidates. According to the report, Captain Abhimanyu of BJP and Rohtas Singh of Congress are the richest candidates. There are also five candidates who do not own any property.
23 candidates of Aam Aadmi Party have said that criminal cases are registered against them. AAP has fielded a total of 88 candidates in the elections. Of these, there are cases against 14 under serious sections which include rape, murder, crimes against children and women and corruption. In the 2019 assembly elections, AAP had fielded 46 candidates, out of which 12 have criminal cases against them. In 2019 and 2024, 26 percent of Aam Aadmi Party candidates have criminal background.
In this election, criminal cases are registered against 17 Congress candidates (19 percent). There are criminal cases against 9 candidates of Indian National Lok Dal. Criminal cases are registered against seven (11 per cent) candidates of Jannayak Janta Party and three (9 per cent) of BSP. BJP’s record in this matter can be said to be good. Only 6 (7 percent) BJP candidates have criminal cases.
A total of 1031 candidates are in the fray in this election, out of which 133 (13 percent) have criminal cases registered against them. The records of three independent candidates have not been scanned properly yet. There are 11 candidates who have allegations of crimes against women or rape. Six candidates have said that they are accused of murder or attempt to murder.
