Congress MP Kumari Selja has expressed her desire to contest the assembly elections. During the Congress’ Sandesh Yatra in Karnal, she said that earlier also she had the desire to contest the assembly elections and still has. The final decision will be taken by the high command. When she was asked that former CM Bhupendra Singh Hooda has given a statement that if Randeep Surjewala and Kumari Selja contest the elections, then he has no objection. On this, Selja said that this is the decision of the party. Everything is decided by the party high command. She said that the distribution of tickets for the assembly elections will be done soon. The screening committee will soon decide the name and send it to the Central Election Committee. MP Randeep Surjewala was also present with Selja in the Sandesh Yatra. Kumari Selja, Lok Sabha MP from Sirsa, is a veteran leader of the Congress.
Shailaja wants to increase her influence in Haryana politics, so she wants to contest the assembly elections. She has hinted at this many times before, but today she has said this publicly. If she contests the assembly elections and Congress returns to power in Haryana, she can be one of the strong contenders for the CM post. This is sure to increase the restlessness of former Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda’s camp.
Bhupendra Hooda’s worries and Congress high command’s headache increased
Kumari Selja contesting the assembly elections has increased Bhupendra Hooda’s worries because he considers himself the strongest contender for the CM post. In such a situation, the headache of the Congress high command will also increase. On one hand, while the Congress is hoping for victory in Haryana this time, the tussle for the CM post among the leaders may get bigger in the coming days. Haryana Congress seems to be divided into two camps. On one side is Kumari Selja’s camp and on the other side is Bhupendra Hooda’s camp. If the tussle between the two camps over the CM post comes out in the open, then Congress may have to bear its loss in the elections as well. Congress performed well in the Lok Sabha elections, which has boosted the morale of the Congress but the internal strife of the party can become a big cause of trouble for it in Haryana.
Hooda was the strongest contender for the post of CM
So far, Congress has not declared any face as CM candidate in Haryana assembly elections. Former Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda is being considered a strong contender due to the way he is leading the election campaign of Congress. After Kiran Chaudhary joining BJP, Randeep Surjewala joining central politics and Kumari Shailja being elected as Lok Sabha MP from Sirsa seat, Bhupendra Hooda was considering himself ahead in the race for the CM post in Congress, but now Shailja has created problems for Hooda by expressing her intention to contest the assembly elections.
Hooda and Kumari Shailaja are at loggerheads
There is a rift between Bhupendra Hooda and Kumari Shailja. Bhupendra Singh Hooda comes from the Jat community while Kumari Shailja is from the Dalit community. In the 2019 assembly elections, Congress gave a tough fight to BJP on the strength of the Hooda and Shailja duo. Bhupendra Hooda was handling the command of CLP and Shailja was the PCC president, but since then the tussle between the two increased. Hooda and Shailja keep challenging each other to maintain their dominance. Both of them are close to the Congress party high command. Recently, both Bhupendra Hooda and Kumari Shailja strengthened their claim by taking out separate yatras in the state. While Bhupendra Hooda and the state president are going to all the districts and conducting thank you programs, his son MP Deepender Hooda is running the ‘Haryana Maange Hisaab’ program. At the same time, Kumari Shailja is running the Congress Sandesh Yatra with Randeep Surjewala.
