Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) chief Ghulam Nabi Azad had said 10 days ago that his health is not good. In such a situation, he will not be able to participate in the election campaign. Now he has surprised people by releasing the campaign schedule. He has said that now he is feeling better. In such a situation, he will participate in the election campaign as much as possible.
Ghulam Nabi Azad had told his candidates that he will not campaign due to ill health. Still, if any candidate wants to contest the election, he should take the responsibility of his own campaign. Now Azad has released the campaign schedule from 12 to 15 September. The first phase of voting is to be held on 18 September. Azad said on the social media platform X, Alhamdullah! Now I am feeling better due to your blessings. I will start campaigning for my candidates in South Kashmir and Chenab Valley on 12 September. Please help us in bringing back the era of peace and development.
According to the report of Indian Express, Ghulam Nabi Azad’s decision of not campaigning was having a very bad effect on the party. This is his first election after forming a new party. Azad has already announced that he himself will not contest the elections. At the same time, after Azad’s announcement of not campaigning, many candidates have withdrawn their candidature. However, some are still contesting the elections.
Ghulam Nabi Azad used to be the biggest face of Congress in Jammu and Kashmir. In 2022, he formed a separate party. Initially, many Congress leaders were attracted towards his party. Most of these leaders have now decided to contest the elections as independents. DPAP failed in the Lok Sabha elections. It had fielded its candidates in Anantnag-Rajouri and Udhampur-Doda.
In the Lok Sabha elections, both candidates of Ghulam Nabi Azad lost their deposits. When Azad himself announced not to contest the elections, it was another big setback for the party. Earlier, he had decided to contest from Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha seat.
