An unwanted record has been registered in the name of the Indian cricket team at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The first Test match of the three-match India vs New Zealand series is being played in Bengaluru. The first day of the match was washed out in rain and the toss took place on the second day. Team India won the toss and captain Rohit Sharma decided to bat first, this decision proved to be suicide for Team India. Wickets kept falling one after the other and the entire Indian team was all out for 46 runs. India had lost seven wickets by 34 runs, in which five batsmen were out without opening the account. This is Team India’s lowest score on Indian soil in Test cricket. The best scorer from the Indian team was Rishabh Pant, who played an inning of 20 runs. Apart from this, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 13 runs. Apart from these two, no other batsman could even reach double figures.

India’s lowest score in India before this match

In 1987, the Indian team was all out for 75 runs against West Indies in Delhi. Which was India’s lowest score in an innings in Test cricket on Indian soil before this. In 2008, the Indian team was all out for 76 runs against South Africa in the Ahmedabad Test, which was the second lowest score of Team India on Indian soil in Test cricket.

Overall India’s lowest score in test cricket

The lowest score of the Indian team in Test cricket is 36 runs. In 2020, the Indian team was all out for 36 runs against Australia in the Brisbane Test. Even though Team India lost that test match badly, it won the test series 2-1. India’s second lowest score in Test cricket is 42 runs, which was made in 1974. Then India was all out for 42 runs in the Lord’s Test against England.

Which team has the lowest score in test cricket?

New Zealand holds the record for lowest score in Test cricket. In 1955, the New Zealand team was all out for 26 runs against England in Auckland. After this, South Africa is at fourth consecutive position. South Africa was all out for 30 runs against England in 1896, and was again all out for 30 runs against England in 1924. In 1899, South Africa was all out for 35 runs against England and in 1932, South Africa was all out for 36 runs against Australia. After this, Australia and India were all out for 36 runs once each. Australia was all out for 36 runs in the Birmingham Test against England in 1902.

India holds unwanted record of lowest test score in Asia

Talking about Asian pitches, this is the lowest score made by any team in an innings in the history of Test cricket. India has left West Indies behind in this matter. West Indies were all out for 53 runs against Pakistan in 1986. Whereas Pakistan was all out for 53 and 59 runs against Australia in 2002.
