Assembly elections have been held in Jammu and Kashmir for the first time after the removal of Article 370 five years ago, snatching of statehood and reorganizing the state into a union territory. People participated enthusiastically in it. Elections have been held in Jammu and Kashmir in a total of three phases. In this elections, a total of 63.88 percent people have voted in all three phases, which is more than the vote percentage of 58.58 percent in the Lok Sabha elections.
BJP has high hopes in the elections held on total 90 assembly seats of the state. On the other hand, NCP and Congress feel that they will benefit from the anger in the minds of the people of the state against the removal of statehood and Article 370. This time, Congress and National Conference have formed an alliance for the assembly elections, while BJP has contested alone in the state. Mehbooba Mufti’s party PDP is also contesting the elections alone. Independent MP from Baramulla, Engineer Rashid Sheikh has also fielded candidates on several seats. Due to this, the contest has become quadrangular on some seats and triangular on others.
