The bugle for Rajya Sabha elections has sounded. Elections are being held for two seats in Bihar which have fallen vacant after BJP’s Vivek Thakur and RJD’s Misa Bharti (Lalu Yadav’s daughter) became Lok Sabha MPs. NDA candidates have filed nominations on both seats. Rashtriya Lok Morcha chief Upendra Kushwaha is contesting on Vivek Thakur’s vacant seat and Bar Council of India chairman Manan Mishra is contesting on Misa Bharti’s seat. The victory of both is considered almost certain. Both candidates have given all kinds of details including their assets along with the nomination papers. People are waiting to know how much power their candidates hold.
On Wednesday, Rashtriya Lok Morcha’s national president and Rajya Sabha candidate Upendra Kushwaha and Manan Mishra filed their nominations. According to the affidavit filed, Kushwaha has Rs 2 lakh in cash. Along with filing the nomination papers, he also filed details of his financial status.

Kushwaha has 28 lakh 28 thousand rupees deposited in various banks. He has an Innova car. He has jewellery worth five lakhs and agricultural land worth 35 lakhs. He also has liabilities of 12.36 lakhs to various banks. His wife has jewellery worth 14 lakhs and 2.50 lakhs in cash. Kushwaha himself is a lecturer while his wife is a businesswoman.

Bar Council of India chairman Manan Kumar Mishra, who has filed nomination for Rajya Sabha from BJP quota, is a crorepati. Manan Mishra, a native of Bagaha, has houses in Patna and Delhi. He has jewellery worth 20 lakhs. He also has a rifle and a revolver. His total assets are shown as three crores 93 lakhs 92 thousand. He has eight acres of cultivable land. The value of the inherited property is two and a half crores. The current market value of the property he has built from his own income is two crores. The current value of two flats in Patna is five crores. He has taken a loan of 25 lakhs from PNB.

During the nomination, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, Water Resources cum Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Energy Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav, BJP State President cum Revenue and Land Reforms Minister Dr. Dilip Kumar Jaiswal, Hindustani Awam Morcha National President cum Minor Water Resources Minister Santosh Kumar Samun, Rural Development Minister Shravan Kumar, Health Minister Mangal Pandey, Minority Welfare Minister Jama Khan, Food and Consumer Protection Minister Leshi Singh, MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, Devesh Chandra Thakur were present.
