Regarding the Maharashtra Assembly elections, the central leadership of BJP has finalized names for more than 100 seats in the first meeting with the core group leaders of the state. There will be another meeting of the core group to decide the names on the remaining seats. The party’s Central Election Committee meeting will be held on October 16, in which the first list for Maharashtra and Jharkhand will be released. The party has indicated that respectable seat sharing with both the allies in both the states has been completed and will be announced soon.
In the first list, the party will also declare candidates for some lost seats along with the sitting MLAs. BJP president JP Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah, state election in-charge Bhupendra Yadav, co-in-charge Ashwini Vaishnav along with prominent central leaders and all the leaders of the state core group were present at the BJP headquarters along with the leaders of the core group of Maharashtra.
Party can contest elections on 170 seats
In the meeting that lasted for about four hours, the party mentioned all the 288 seats, including the seats given to allies, but the party discussed only its own seats. Last time BJP had won 105 MLAs. Some MLAs joined the party later. The party has finalized names for most of these seats. Last time BJP contested elections on 164 seats, this time it can contest elections on around 170 seats. Region wise social and political equations of Maharashtra were also discussed in the meeting. Strategy to deal with anti-government environment
According to sources, BJP will contest on most of the seats in Vidarbha, Mumbai and North Maharashtra, while Shiv Sena will focus on the seats in Marathwada, Konkan and North Maharashtra. Ajit Pawar’s NCP will also contest more seats in Marathwada and Western Maharashtra. A senior party leader said that BJP will also give seats to its two allies Shiv Sena Shinde and Ajit Pawar’s NCP as per their demand, although it may be more or less. All the parties have broadly agreed on seat sharing and some seats will also be exchanged among themselves. Because due to the anti-incumbency environment, the party will be in profit only by fighting by changing many seats.

The BJP leader has also claimed that now no ally party will move here and there and everyone will contest the elections together. Social equations were also discussed in the meeting. The party has also indicated that those MPs who were not given tickets in the Lok Sabha, have little chance of contesting the assembly elections. The party’s emphasis is on new faces and strong candidates so that the victory figures can be maintained. According to sources, Shiv Sena leader and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister NCP leader Ajit Pawar may also come to Delhi. That Home Minister Amit Shah can meet BJP President JP Nadda and finalize the seat distribution.
