From speeches in Parliament to rallies, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been repeatedly seen reiterating how many of the country’s secretaries are OBCs. He has been saying that out of 100, only 3 percent are OBC officers, whereas they constitute more than 60 percent of the population. He has been accusing the Narendra Modi led central government of neglecting OBCs, SCs and STs. But now there is an uproar on this issue in the Congress itself and allegations of ignoring OBC leaders are being made. After the defeat in Haryana, the atmosphere in the state has changed. Senior leader of Ahirwal belt Captain Ajay Singh Yadav has made allegations of neglecting the backward people.
He posted on Twitter, ‘Congress has got only one seat in South Haryana, especially in Gurugram, Rewari, Mahendragarh and Faridabad. Ahirwal has no representation in the Congress Working Committee, Central Election Committee, Congress General Secretaries and even the Haryana Pradesh Committee. A post like Chairman of OBC Congress has no power. It is toothless.’ Not only this, another leader Dr. Arunesh Yadav has also agreed to his post. He said that you are absolutely right. Apart from this, Sanjay Yadav, who runs Yaduvanshi Kalyan Trust, also said that the backward people should get their rights.
In this way, Captain Ajay Yadav’s post has shown a mirror to Rahul Gandhi. The allegation of neglecting the backward classes within the party is special because Rahul Gandhi has been continuously advocating abolishing the 50 per cent limit of reservation, conducting caste census and giving opportunities to the backward classes from bureaucracy to politics. In such a situation, it is a matter of concern to blame Captain Ajay Yadav.
In fact, an opinion has also emerged regarding the results of Haryana that compared to Jats, Congress gave less importance to other OBC communities like Yadav, Gurjar, Saini, Kashyap and due to this they went with BJP. Apart from this, BJP government has also provided a lot of jobs in Ahirwal belt. Captain Ajay Yadav has also considered the tussle over the post of CM even before the results to be a major reason for the defeat of Congress.
