Less than a month is left for Maharashtra Assembly elections. In such a situation, both the major alliances of Maharashtra politics are busy in making a consensus regarding the distribution of seats. If we talk about Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), which is currently out of power, the matter regarding most of the seats in this camp has been resolved. If reports are to be believed, seat distribution has been decided on 263 out of 288 assembly seats in the state. However, there seems to be a situation of difference of opinion on 25 seats. Regarding this, a meeting of all the allies of MVA was held on Thursday in which representatives of Congress, NCP (Sharad Pawar) and Uddhav Thackeray faction of Shiv Sena attended. Many big leaders including Congress Maharashtra President Nana Patole, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray) MP Sanjay Raut and NCP (Sharad Pawar) leaders Jitendra Awhad, Jayant Patil and Anil Deshmukh attended the meeting.
The 25 seats on which no consensus has been reached include five of the 36 seats in Mumbai. NDTV quoted sources as saying that the finalized list of seats with differences will be sent to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and heads of the other two alliance parties, Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar. After this, the party chief will take the final decision in two to three days. It is noteworthy that elections will be held in Maharashtra in a single phase on 20th November. The results will be released on 23rd November.
Earlier on Thursday, regarding the defeat in Haryana, Sharad Pawar had said that the elections in Haryana will not have any impact on the results of Maharashtra. Talking to the media, he said, “We are studying the results of Haryana. We are also looking at the results of Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. I do not think that the results of Haryana will have any impact on the elections in the state. “
Talking about the Assembly elections 2019, it was a direct contest between the ruling BJP-Shiv Sena alliance on one side and the Congress-NCP alliance on the other. However the real game started after the results were declared. Despite getting enough seats to form the government, BJP and Shiv Sena left each other after a dispute over the post of Chief Minister. Uddhav Thackeray assumed the post of Chief Minister in the state in alliance with NCP and Congress. However, the government fell in 2022 due to the rebellion of Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde and Shinde was sworn in as Chief Minister with the support of the BJP. The next year, the ruling coalition got a third partner when Ajit Pawar decided to part ways with the NCP. He took oath as Deputy Chief Minister along with BJP leader and former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
