Wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia are set to join the Congress. It is reported that both will join the party on Friday afternoon. With the meeting of both of them with Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, speculations of contesting the Haryana Assembly elections had intensified. However, till now the party has not said anything officially about the tickets of both the wrestlers.
According to India Today report, Phogat and Poonia may join Congress at 1:30 pm on Friday. Recently both of them also met many senior Congress leaders.
Can contest election from this seat
There is speculation that Phogat of Charkhi Dadri may consider contesting elections from her home constituency. However, discussions are also going on about the Julana assembly seat of Jind district. Whereas, Poonia can be given a ticket from Badli. At present, the Julana seat is occupied by the Jannayak Janata Party. At the same time, the Badli seat is in the account of Congress.
