There is a lot of speculation in political circles about the Haryana assembly elections. There is a discussion that female wrestler Vinesh Phogat may contest the election on a Congress ticket. Congress state in-charge general secretary Deepak Babaria was asked a question about this on Tuesday evening. He was asked whether the Congress will field Vinesh Phogat in the Haryana assembly elections? In response to this, Babaria said, ‘The name of Vinesh Phogat or Bajrang Punia is not in the list. I think there will be clarity on this by the day after tomorrow.’ He said that earlier 34 seats were finalized. Today, 32 out of 41 seats have been finalized. There was no specific discussion on specific seats. Proposals have been put forward regarding the candidates on their (Randeep Surjewala and Kumari Shailja) seats.
On alliance with AAP for Haryana assembly elections, Deepak Babaria said, “Talks with Aam Aadmi Party regarding alliance are in very early mode. We are exploring it. If there is any further development in the next 2-3 days, we will let you know.” Earlier, AAP leader and Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh welcomed reports that claimed that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has shown interest in the possibility of an alliance with the Arvind Kejriwal-led party in Haryana. There have been several reports claiming that at the Congress Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting on Monday, Rahul expressed interest in the possibility of an alliance with AAP for the assembly elections in Haryana.

It is worth noting that amid speculations of contesting elections, Olympian wrestler Vinesh Phogat reached Shambhu and Khanauri border between Punjab and Haryana on Saturday. Phogat supported the farmers in her address and said, ‘I want to tell you that your daughter is with you. The demands of the farmers are not illegal.’
On a question related to the upcoming assembly elections in Haryana, the wrestler from Charkhi Dadri district said, “I don’t know about politics. I have no information about it.” When asked if she would support the farmers if they start a movement in Haryana, she replied, “Why not?” She said that the farmers of the country are troubled and their problems need to be solved. Solving their problems should be the priority of the government. I am confident that their struggle will not go in vain. A few days ago in Rohtak, Haryana, Phogat was awarded a gold medal by the Sarvkhaap Panchayat.
