Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti has said that the youth here should also learn a lesson from the Bangladesh incident. Speaking in the context of Jammu and Kashmir, Mufti said on Wednesday that the youth of Jammu and Kashmir also have many issues, we should learn a lesson from Bangladesh. Along with this, advising the political parties, Mufti said, “Whatever has happened and is happening in Bangladesh, I think our country should learn a lesson from it. When you have a large youth population and you try to ignore them, when inflation and unemployment hit them, then such situations arise.”
She said that reservation is good for the weaker sections, but it should be in proportion to the population. We should learn from Bangladesh that dictatorship does not last long and people’s patience eventually breaks. She did not stop at this. She further said that then you too will have to run away like Sheikh Hasina.
The former chief minister said, “Especially with regard to Jammu and Kashmir, we should take lessons from Bangladesh where the youth have a lot of issues, moreover the youth are feeling helpless as it happened in Bangladesh. Exploitation, pressure and the issue of UAPA, all are involved in it. I think this needs to change. However, I hope that the situation of Bangladesh will not be repeated here.”
Let us tell you that neighboring country Bangladesh is currently going through a period of political instability and turmoil. The situation worsened across the country after students there revolted against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina against reservation. Eventually, PM Sheikh Hasina had to resign from her post and flee the country on August 5 in view of the growing protests. Students in Bangladesh were mainly demanding the abolition of the quota system for government jobs. The protest became a big movement, in which more than 300 people lost their lives.
A day after Sheikh Hasina resigned as Bangladesh’s Prime Minister and left the country, President Mohammad Shahabuddin has announced the dissolution of the country’s parliament to make way for the formation of an interim administration, reports Dhaka Tribune. Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus has been appointed head of Bangladesh’s interim government, reports Dhaka Tribune. The announcement was made by Joynal Abedin, press secretary to the President of Bangladesh.
