The powerful teaser of ‘The Sabarmati Report’ was released on 28 March. It showed a glimpse of the incident that took place in the Sabarmati Express near Godhra railway station on 27 February 2002. The release date was also announced along with the teaser. The release date of the film was set on 3 May 2024, but then this date was changed in view of the political atmosphere and elections in the country. The CBFC had also expressed objection to many scenes of the film. In such a situation, the film could not get a certificate. The CBFC had instructed to release the film after the elections with all the cuts. After the elections, news came that the director of the film has left the film. Earlier this film was being directed by Ranjan Chandel. He left the film amid bitterness with producer Ekta Kapoor over re-shooting of many scenes of the film. Amidst all the ups and downs, the film has now got a new release date.

After the dispute between the producer and the director at the creative level, the film has now got a new director. The film has been directed by Dheeraj Sarna with many improvements. Vikrant Massey has not been seen in theaters since ’12th Fail’. All his projects were released on OTT, but now he is making a comeback.
