Now the government has conducted surgical strike on 18 OTT platforms spreading obscenity. Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting L. Murugan informed the Lok Sabha on Wednesday that the Central Government has blocked 18 OTT platforms spreading obscenity through content. All these 18 OTT platforms have been blocked on 14 March 2024. The Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting said that all digital media including news channels ‘Bolta Hindustan’ and ‘National Dastak’ on YouTube and publications of current affairs are covered under the IT Law 2021. He said that under Section 69A of the IT Act 2000, the Central Government has the right to give instructions to block any content.

There has been a lot of abuse and other obscene dialogues in the content of all OTTs.
