Veteran actor Pankaj Kapoor has revealed that 25 people had a narrow escape during the making of the 1983 cult classic film ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’. He told that the film was being shot on an open lift at a construction site which was risky. Narrating a scary anecdote during the shooting, the actor revealed that the lives of 25 people present on the set were in danger. Actually, during the shooting of a sequence, 25 people had to go to the 26th floor, but due to excess weight, the lift got stuck on the 7th or 8th floor and everyone panicked.
25 people narrowly escaped death
Pankaj Kapoor told in an interview to Filmcopath that while shooting the second scene of the film, a team of 25 people had to go to the 26th floor to shoot, but what happened to us at that time left everyone stunned. The actor revealed that when Kundan took him to show the location, he was shocked because the sides of the open lift were only 1-2 feet high and there was a barbed wire on top. Pankaj said, ‘We did not realize that we had put too much weight in the lift, but yes, I kept saying that there are too many people in the lift but no one listened to me. As soon as we started going up, the lift got stuck on the 7th or 8th floor. As soon as the lift stopped suddenly, everyone started panicking.’

He further said, ‘We were lucky that we did not become victims of any accident. Due to excess weight, the lift stopped working and the wire pulling the lift also started breaking, but we all came out of the lift in time. Otherwise 25 people would have fallen straight down from the 7th or 8th floor.
