Kirtana gave UPASC exam after passing the Karnataka Administrative Service examination and working as KAS officer. After constantly trying, he cracked UPSC in the sixth attempt. In his sixth attempt, he passed this exam with the 167th All India rank. After becoming an IAS officer, HS Kirtana’s first posting took place in Mandya district of Karnataka, where he served as Assistant Commissioner. Kirtana is currently working as the Chief Executive Officer of the Panchayat in Chikkamgaluru, Karnataka.
