This time many films have been nominated in 23 categories. Apart from this, the name of Indian documentary ‘Writing with Fire’ is also included in the final list of documentary feature category.
Let us tell you that this time, Shoojit Sircar’s ‘Sardar Udham’, Vidya Balan’s ‘Lioness’, Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Toofan’, Captain Vikram Batra’s biopic ‘Sher Shah’, Pankaj Tripathi’s ‘Kaagaz’ are among 14 to be sent to the Oscars. The movies have been shortlisted. These include Marathi films ‘Aata Vel Zali’, ‘Karkhanisanchi Vaari’ and ‘Godavari’, Assamese film Bridge, Gujarati film ‘Chhelo Show’ and Gojri film ‘Laila Aur Satgeet’.
Till now no Indian film has won an Oscar. However, in the year 2001, Aamir Khan starrer Ashutosh Gowariker’s film “Lagaan” was one of the top five films in the list of Best International Feature. Apart from this, ‘Mother India’ in the year 1958 and ‘Salaam Bombay’ in the year 1989 have been in the top five.
