Badshah told in one of his interviews that Karan Johar had offered him a role in two of his films. Badshah told that he was taking himself too seriously at that time, so he rejected both these roles. The first film among these was ‘Lust Stories’ released in 2018 and the second was ‘Good News’ released this year. Badshah made his debut in the film Khandaani ‘Shafakhana’ released in 2019. The interesting thing was that Vicky Kaushal later worked in both the films that Karan Johar offered to Badshah.
Badshah thought Karan was joking
In a conversation with The Lallantop, Karan Johar said, “I was offered Vicky Kaushal’s role in Lust Stories. I thought Karan sir was joking. He told me that there is a role in which a man is not able to satisfy his wife.” Badshah said that he said- What is this sir? Do I look like this?” When Karan Johar was asked if he really said this to Karan Johar? He said- Yes, really. We were judging a show called ‘Dil Hai Hindustani’ together.
This offer was given during a reality show
Badshah told that when both of them were having this conversation, they were sitting next to each other. Badshah told- He said- This is a role in which I think you will fit. I thought he was joking or maybe he was just saying this as a favour. But he told me the same thing in the next shoot as well. Then when Varun Dhawan met me, he congratulated me and said that Dharma Productions is launching me. But I refused that role.
“I was taking myself too seriously”
Badshah told that he was not sure whether he would be able to do that role or not. The actor said that he was taking himself too seriously. Badshah told that he was also offered a role in Vicky Kaushal’s film ‘Good News’. Badshah told that the role that was offered to him was later done by Diljit Dosanjh. The rapper told that at that time Rajkumar Rao’s name was also coming up for this role. Badshah told, “I was trekking in Manali, and I saw a missed call from Karan sir.”
When Karan called me from Manali to Mumbai
Badshah told that Karan Johar called him to Mumbai and Shashank Khaitan was also present there. He asked me to audition with Rajkumar Rao. But this role was of a person who cannot have children. Badshah said that finally he played the role of a rapper who has erectile dysfunction in Khandaani Shafakhana. His film with Sonakshi Sinha did not do well at the box office. Badshah told that he did that film because he wanted to spread awareness about this.
