Chennai, Sep 19 (IANS)| Tamil superstar Vijay has moved court against 11 people, including his parents, S Chandrasekhar and Shobha Shekhar, for using his name for political purposes. The court is likely to hear the matter on September 27.
Vijay Makkal Mandram had announced that he would contest the rural local body elections to be held on October 6 and October 9 in nine districts of Tamil Nadu. Vijay argued that it was his parents who allowed the registered society of Vijay fans to contest as an independent candidate. In the civil suit, he has also sought a stay on the conduct of any meeting or activities by using his name against the 11 respondents, including their parents.
Vijay distanced himself from the activities of Vijay Makkal Mandaram, a society registered by his father. In January this year, his lawyer in the Madras High Court said that Vijay’s father had registered a political party called All India Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Mandram without his consent.
