After the Kolkata rape-murder case uproar, singer Shreya Ghoshal has taken a big decision. The singer has announced on Instagram and X on Saturday that she will not do a live concert in Kolkata in September as she is deeply hurt by the recent horrific rape and murder of a doctor in the city. She has shared a long note on social media, in which she said that she has decided to postpone the Kolkata concert. At the same time, she has also asked people to raise their voice against the crime in Kolkata.

Sharing the post on social media, Shreya Ghoshal wrote, ‘I am deeply hurt by the heartbreaking and heinous incident that happened recently in Kolkata. Being a woman, it is unimaginable to even think about the cruelty done to her and whenever I think about it, my soul trembles. With a very sad heart and deep sorrow, my promoter and I would like to postpone my concert ‘Shreya Ghoshal Live, All Hearts Tour Ishq FM Grand Concert’ which was scheduled to take place on 14 September 2024, now it is being put on a new date in October 2024.’

Shreya Ghoshal’s concert which was to be held at Kolkata’s Netaji Indoor Stadium is now expected to be held on some other date in October. On Saturday morning, the singer shared a post and said that it is very important to raise voice for the safety of women. She has also asked people to pay attention to this matter.

Shreya further said in her note, ‘We all were eagerly waiting for this concert, but it is important for me to take a stand and demand justice in this matter with all of you. I sincerely pray for the respect and safety of women in this world, not just for our country. I hope my friends and fans will accept and understand our decision to postpone this concert. Please stay with my band and me, as we have to raise our voice against the demons. I request you to stay with us till we announce the new date.
