New Delhi. Alia Bhatt has returned to the big screen with her film Jigra. This action thriller, directed by Vasan Bala, also stars Vedang Raina in the lead role along with Alia. The story of the film revolves around Satya (Alia), who embarks on a dangerous journey to save her younger brother Ankur (Vedang) from wrongful imprisonment in a foreign country. Although Alia’s star power and the film’s exciting story aroused enthusiasm among the audience, Jigra did not do much at the box office. According to Sacknilk’s report, the film, which released on October 11, has collected around ₹21.10 crore so far. The film’s earnings are proving difficult to increase due to mixed reviews and average word-of-mouth promotion.
Will be released soon on OTT
There is good news for the viewers who want to watch the film sitting at home. According to Economic Times, the digital rights of the film have been purchased by Netflix. However, the platform has currently set the official release date as December 4.
Alia’s new action avatar
In an interview with Tried and Refused Productions, Alia said that she decided to pursue action films to challenge traditional gender roles in cinema. He said, “It’s cool isn’t it, when you see a woman fight, and she puts up a real fight. You don’t have to think that this is a woman fighting. “It’s just one man fighting for a specific cause.”
Will ‘Jigra’ work magic on OTT?
Currently, the film is facing mixed reviews and box office challenges with its theatrical release. But when it will be released on Netflix, its emotional and action-packed content can definitely impress the audience.
