New Delhi. After the controversy over Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan’s book ‘Pregnancy Bible’, a hearing was held in the Jabalpur High Court of Madhya Pradesh today. The court had sought a response from Kareena in this matter, on which she presented her side through her lawyer. Kareena’s lawyer told the court that there is no intention to hurt any religious sentiments regarding the title of the book and neither should anyone’s feelings be hurt by it.
Controversy over the title of the book
Kareena Kapoor recently launched a book called ‘Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Pregnancy Bible’, in which she has shared her pregnancy experiences. However, some members of the Christian community objected to the use of the word ‘Bible’ in the title of this book. After this objection, a person named Christopher Anthony filed a petition in the Madhya Pradesh High Court against Kareena Kapoor Khan, the publisher of the book and others associated with it.

Kareena launched the book on 9 August
Kareena’s book was launched on 9 August, which she described as her “third child”. After the controversy over the title of the book, Kareena was asked to respond in the court. During the hearing in the High Court, advocates Divya Krishna Billaiya and Nikhil Bhatt presented the reply in the court on behalf of Kareena Kapoor Khan. The lawyers objected to those who filed a petition against the book and said that there is nothing in the book that hurts religious sentiments.
The case will be heard next week
The case will be heard next week. A single bench of Justice GS Ahluwalia has issued notices to Kareena Kapoor Khan, Aditi Shah Bhim Jiyani, Amazon India, Juggernaut Books and others and sought their response. The petitioner says that adding the word ‘Bible’ to the name of the book has hurt the feelings of the followers of Christianity and has hurt their society. The petition has alleged promotion of obscene material and hurting religious sentiments under sections 292, 295, and 295-A of the Indian Penal Code. The court has sought responses from all parties and the next hearing of the case has been scheduled for next week.
