The veteran actor is being honored with the prestigious award for his remarkable cinematic journey and contribution to Indian cinema, he told XPost. 74 year old Mithun Chakraborty has a successful career of 48 years in Hindi cinema. He is still active in films.

Ashwini Vaishnav said, ‘Mithun da’s remarkable cinematic journey inspires generations! It is an honor to announce that the Dadasaheb Phalke Selection Jury has decided to award the award to veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty for his distinguished contribution to Indian cinema. He also informed that the award will be presented to Mithun Chakraborty at the 70th National Film Awards ceremony, which is scheduled to take place on October 8, 2024.

The journey from the streets of Kolkata to becoming a Bollywood disco dancer was not at all easy for Mithun. He faced many difficulties to reach the heights of cinema. In 1982, his film ‘Disco Dancer’ was released, after which he came into limelight. The film did excellent business in Asia, the Soviet Union, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Türkiye and Africa.
