New Delhi. The Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has banned ULLU, ALTT, Desiflix, Big Shots and some other OTT apps. Action has been taken against a total of 25 websites in the case of broadcasting pornographic and objectionable content. The Ministry has altt, ULLU, Big Shots App, Desiflix, Boomex, Navarsa Light, Gulab App, Kangan App, Bull App, Jalwa App, Vav Entertainment, Look Entertainment, Hit Rit Rito, Shoux, Sol Talkies, Ada TV, Hotx TV, Hotx, Hotx, Nion VIP, Phugi, Mozflix, Triflix have been identified by violating various laws including Section 67 and 67A of 2000, Section 67 and 67A of Indian Justice Code, Section 294 of 2023 and Section 4 of Women, Section 4 of the Act 4 of the Act, 1986.
The Central Government has given clear instructions to the companies providing internet service and asked them to ensure that there is no public access to these apps and websites. Meaning no internet users could open these banned apps. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has also informed the Director of the Department of Telecommunications, Government of India (DS-II) to facilitate compliance by the ISP. It has been stated by the Ministry that this action reflects the government’s commitment to implement digital content rules and to ensure adherence to Indian laws.
Let us tell you that such action has not been taken for the first time by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Earlier, in March last year, 18 OTT apps including Dreams Films, Wovi Yesma, Unattoo Adda were banned by the government which were broadcasting soft porn, adults and vulgar content. Apart from banning these OTT platforms, the government also blocked their social media handles.
