Mumbai, (IANS)| Megastar Amitabh Bachchan and his actress-politician wife Jaya Bachchan’s debut film ‘Bansi Birju’ has completed 49 years of release in Hindi cinema. Amitabh shared a black and white picture of the film on social media. The cine icon posted a monochrome still from the film late on Saturday night. In the picture, the couple is seen hugging.
Big B captioned the picture as, “Our first film ‘Bansi Birju’ was released on September 1, 1970. This was 49 years ago.” Directed by Prakash Verma, ‘Bansi Birju’ is about the love story between a villager Birju and his girlfriend Bansi, a sex worker. After ‘Bansi Birju’, FTII graduate and daughter of renowned journalist Tarun Kumar Bhaduri, Jaya co-starred with Amitabh in ‘Ek Nazar’.
Amitabh and Jaya got married in June 1973. The two were also seen in the film ‘Zanjeer’ which was a huge success. They worked together in many films like ‘Abhimaan’, ‘Chupke Chupke’, ‘Mili’ and ‘Sholay’. Big B and Jaya have two children – actors Abhishek Bachchan and Shweta Bachchan Nanda.
