The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has urged all Indian filmmakers to rethink Turkey as a shooting site in view of increasing support for Pakistan in matters related to India’s national interests. The apex body, representing 36 craft workers, technicians and artists in the Indian media and entertainment industry, made this request on Thursday amid a call by Natisense to ‘boycott Turkey’ in India.
These films shot in Türkiye
The call to ‘boycott Turkey’ in India was due to Ankara supporting Pakistan amid military conflict between New Delhi and Islamabad. The Indian public is angry that Türkiye is providing weapons system to Pakistan including drones. In the last few years, many Indian films like ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’, ‘Guru’, ‘Code Name: Tiranga’, ‘Race 2’ and ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’ have been shot in Turkey. In addition, many Turkish shows and actors have very large fan numbers in India. However, even after the Pahalgam terror attack, Turkey openly favor Pakistan, it will definitely not happen now. FWICE also urging the makers not to go to Türkiye for filmmaking is also a setback for the country.
Pakistan has been supporting
Especially Turkey, which expects an important role in the Islamic Cooperation Organization (OIC), is known to support Pakistan when it comes to issues affecting India. This is only a symbolic step, about which Ankara believes that this will strengthen her position with Islamic countries. Apart from this, many online travel agencies have said that they will no longer offer a new journey for Türkiye and Azerbaijan due to Pakistan’s ‘support’. Customers have been urged to avoid ‘non-essential’ travel of these places, and Indians are being urged to take ‘extreme caution’ while planning to travel sensitive areas.
