Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency film has not been released yet. Meanwhile, historian Makhan Lal has defended the film. Makhan Lal has been appointed as the subject expert for Emergency by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

The film seemed factual

Speaking to India Today, Makhan Lal said that he found the film factual and it does not portray late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in a negative light. He said, ‘This film is completely based on truth and they have not tampered with the truth at all. I would say that the filmmakers are very sympathetic to this issue. Every leader has some flaws, but the film does not portray Indira Gandhi in a negative light.’

Did not get certificate from CBFC

Let us tell you that Kangana Ranaut has made the film Emergency, which has come under controversy. Sikh organizations have lodged objections regarding many scenes. Due to this, the CBFC has not yet given a certificate to the film. During the ongoing hearing in the Bombay High Court, the CBFC has said in an affidavit that the film can be released, but some cuts will have to be made. Makhan Lal’s name has been included in the affidavit as a subject expert.

In the conversation, Makhan Lal also dismissed the concerns that are related to Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale. He said, ‘Does Bhindranwale represent the entire Sikh community? If so, why are others from the community like former Congress CMs Beant Singh and Prakash Singh different from him? Why is criticizing Bhindranwale considered an insult to the Sikh community? Who shot Mrs. Indira Gandhi? If he was a Sikh, then this is a fact. How can this be denied?’

Kangana directed the film

The film Emergency has been directed by Kangana Ranaut. Along with this, she herself has played the role of former PM Indira Gandhi. The film stars Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, late Satish Kaushik. The film was earlier scheduled to release on September 6, but the release was postponed after not getting a certificate from the CBFC.
