New Delhi. Taking a major action, the Central Government has banned 57 social media handles including 18 OTT platforms, 19 websites, 10 apps. This action has been taken against all of them for spreading obscenity. The government had issued warnings to these platforms several times, but despite this, no improvement was made in their content, after which the government took strict action.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said that obscene content was being shown on these OTT platforms. These apps have been removed from Google Play Store and Apple Play Store. According to the report, Union Minister Anurag Thakur had issued warnings to these 18 OTT platforms several times to remove lewd content. The 18 OTT apps that have been removed include Dreams Films, Woovi, Yesma, Uncut Adda, Tri Flix, X Prime, Neon And Prime Play is included.
According to the statement issued by the ministry, regarding the blocked OTT platforms, it has been said that they used to broadcast obscene, indecent and derogatory content towards women. These platforms have been banned by taking action under Section 67 and 67A of the IT Act, Section 292 of the IPC and Section 4 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986.
