New Delhi: It has been 41 years since the release of Bollywood’s cult classic comedy film ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’. This movie had hit the theaters in the year 1983. People had showered their love on this film made on a very low budget. Famous filmmaker Sudhir Mishra was the co-writer of ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’. Recently he told what kind of problems had come up during the making of this film.
According to a report by ETimes, Sudhir Mishra told during an event in Chandigarh that every leading actress had rejected ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’. Even Om Puri had not read the script and reached the set for shooting. Apart from this, he had expressed his doubts regarding the script of the film. Sudhir Mishra said, ‘One day on the set Om Puri sir asked me – have you written this? I said- Didn’t you read the script? Puri Saheb said- No.

Om Puri had signed the film without reading the script
Sudhir Mishra told that Om Puri had given his consent to the film without reading the script. Apart from this, Sudhir Mishra also revealed that Naseeruddin Shah had objections regarding the script. He found the film a bit messed up. Despite this, he decided to sign the film because he had a good personal relationship with Sudhir Mishra.
The film was made for approximately Rs 7 lakhs
6 lakh 84 thousand rupees were spent in making ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’. Naseeruddin Shah got the highest fee for the movie, which was Rs 15 thousand. All the other stars were given Rs 3,000 each. It was written together by theater directors Ranjit Kapoor and Satish Kaushik.

It is noteworthy that ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’ was directed by Kundan Shah. The film is a dark satire on corruption among Indian politics, bureaucracy and business. Apart from Naseeruddin and Om Puri, Ravi Baswani, Pankaj Kapoor, Satish Shah, Bhakti Barve and Neena Gupta played important roles in it. This film was also awarded the Indira Gandhi Award for Best Debut Film in 1984.
