Veteran Tamil film actor Delhi Ganesh passed away in Chennai on Saturday, November 9. He was suffering from age related diseases. He breathed his last at the age of 80. The news of his demise was confirmed by his son Mahadev by posting on social media. The actor’s family is in shock due to his demise. All the fans of the actor are also very sad. Mahadev wrote in the official statement of the family, ‘We are very sad to inform that our father Dr. Delhi Ganesh has passed away on November 9, 2024 at around 11 pm.’
South actor passes away
It is being told that veteran actor Delhi Ganesh died in his sleep. His death has come as a deep shock not only to his family and fans but also to the people of Tamil film industry. Let us tell you, Ganesh started his career in acting after a decade-long stint with the Indian Air Force from 1964 to 1974.
Last rites of Delhi Ganesh
According to information received from the late actor’s son, the last rites of Delhi Ganesh are scheduled to take place on November 10. Many superstars like Rajinikanth are paying tribute to him on social media. Rajinikanth pays tribute to Delhi Ganesha on X. He wrote in Tamil, ‘My friend Delhi Ganesh was a wonderful human being and a remarkable actor. I am deeply saddened to hear the news of his demise. I express my condolences to his family and friends. Om Shanti.’

Thalapathy Vijay expressed his condolences on the demise of the actor through the X handle of his political party Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), ‘The news of the demise of veteran actor Shri Delhi Ganesh due to health issues brings deep sorrow. Having acted in over 400 films in various roles over 40 years, his sudden demise is a great loss to the Tamil film industry. I express my heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family and friends.
Ganesh was seen in 400 films
Late Tamil actor Delhi Ganesh’s real name was Ganesh, but the stage name Delhi Ganesh was given to him by film maker Balachander. After Ganesh, he took a break in acting from the film ‘Patina Pravesam’ (1976). Throughout his acting career, Ganesh had worked in more than 400 films in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam cinema. He was also last seen in the film ‘Indian 2’ released in 2024. Apart from this, he was also seen in TV shows and short movies.
