New Delhi: Farah Khan and Sajid Khan’s mother Menaka Irani passed away on 26 July at the age of 79. After the death of her husband Kamran Khan, Menaka raised her children single-handedly. Director-choreographer Farah Khan had years ago credited her mother for her success and pointed out the strength and dedication of her mother Menaka in playing a special role in her life.
Farah Khan has openly expressed her deep love and gratitude towards her mother Menaka Irani. In an interview to NDTV in 2005, she said, “I know I don’t say I love you often. If you weren’t in my life, if you weren’t the kind of person you are, Sajid and I would have been different people. I know the hardships you had to go through to make sure we got the necessary education. That mattered to us.”
Farah Khan got a big success with ‘Main Hoon Na’
Farah Khan thanked her mother for the values she had given her and praised her honesty, hearing which her mother’s eyes filled with tears. The filmmaker had said, ‘The values you have given us. I know that you are the most honest person I have ever met. The sense of humor in you and the joy with which you live your life has shaped me. If I can become even half of you, I will be very proud.’ Farah Khan gave this interview after the success of the film ‘Main Hoon Na’. Earlier, people knew her as a choreographer. The huge success of ‘Main Hoon Na’ took Farah Khan’s career to new heights.
Maneka Irani celebrated her 79th birthday on 12 July
Farah’s mother Maneka Irani celebrated her 79th birthday on July 12. On this special occasion, Farah Khan wrote an emotional message, ‘Last month I realized how much I love my mother Maneka. She is the strongest, bravest person I have ever seen. Even after several surgeries, her sense of humor is intact. Happy birthday mother! Today is a good day to return home. I love you.’ Farah’s brother Sajid Khan also shared his love and wishes with a simple but emotional post, writing, ‘Happy Birthday Mummy.’
