New Delhi. Bollywood’s veteran actress Farida Jalal recently appeared in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s series ‘Heeramandi’. Her work in this series was well-liked. Now Farida Jalal has expressed her displeasure with the filmmakers during an interview. She says that her male counterparts are getting good roles, while actresses are not. Farida Jalal says that now she wants to do challenging roles.
times of India During an interview with , Farida Jalal said that she is happy today that senior actors are making a comeback and hopes that the makers will offer them some different kind of characters. Farida Jalal said, ‘I am waiting for a challenging role where I can show my talent. I think let’s bring a mother’s role and a grandmother’s role for me. That is the same as everything. I am disappointed with the makers that they don’t think I can do anything more than this.’

Farida Jalal further said, ‘I want to do some exciting roles. My male counterparts got a lot to do. From late Amrish Puri to Anupam Kher, they played villainous as well as comedy characters very well. They were not limited to playing only father or grandfather’s roles on the silver screen, but unfortunately I was given only one type of role.’
I will never stop working
Farida Jalal appeared in Saif Ali Khan’s film ‘Jawani Jaaneman’ in 2020 and ‘Ittu Si Baat’ in 2022. After this, she has worked in ‘Heeramandi’ in the year 2024. Regarding upcoming projects, Farida Jalal said, ‘I have just completed work on some projects, including ‘Dua Qubool’ and a movie in which the son of late music composer Adesh Srivastava is debuting. I love my work very much and I will never stop working.’
