New Delhi. Actor -turned -politician Kamal Haasan has been reprimanded by the Karnataka High Court on one of his comments. Justice M. Nagprasanna has strictly said that whether you are Kamal Haasan or anyone else, but cannot hurt people’s feelings. No citizen has the right to hurt public sentiments. In fact, while supporting Tamil in the Hindi-Tamil language dispute, Kamal Haasan recently said that Kannada language has also been born from Tamil language. His remarks were strongly opposed by Kannada speakers. The Karnataka government banned the release of Kamal Haasan’s film Thug Life in the state. After this, Kamal Haasan filed a petition in the High Court.
Justice M. Nagprasanna asked on what basis did you give this statement? Are you a historian or language knowledge? He said that water, land and language are very important for citizens. The states have been divided on the basis of language. The judge said that the people of Karnataka want you to apologize but your attitude is not to apologize. The judge said that on the one hand you want to earn money from the people of your film Karnataka but cannot apologize for hurting their feelings. The judge clearly said that if you cannot do this, then why did the petition file in the High Court?
However, Kamal Haasan’s lawyer defended him, saying that his client’s purpose was not to hurt anyone’s feeling. The court has not yet passed any order on this and asked Kamal Haasan to consider apologizing. Let me tell you that due to criticizing Hindi in the language dispute, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin has given one seat from his party’s quota to Kamal Haasan’s party Makkal Nidhi Mayam in the Rajya Sabha election.
